Today, in unnecessary car shopping with E90M3, !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! 2008 was the first model year of the E9X M3, and since then this 2008 M3 has done a mere 27736 miles; that’s a mere ~2500 miles a year.

Kinja'd!!!

Back in 2008 BMW was still using the CCC version of the iDrive, luckily that was not an option that was selected for this M3.

Kinja'd!!!

Being a 2008, you do get the original E90 tail lights, but at least the color sort of masks how much worse they are then the LCI tail lights.

Kinja'd!!!

For $28k, it’s not the worst deal ever, !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! I know that’s not the best heuristic, but it’s all we have to go by.

Kinja'd!!!

Anyone need a low mileage E90 M3?

A potential bargain, but I would look carefully at the accident repair and make sure it drives correctly.

Seemed to be in and out of the dealer a lot after the wreck checking alignment, then it was dumped.

I like the lack of iDrive as I prefer more old-school radio setups like this one!  No GPS, no touchscreen, just buttons to change channels and CD tracks!

everybody needs a low mileage E90 M3

I work with a guy that picked one of those up a couple years ago - same but in the darker charcoal color.

Old, low mileage BMWs generally indicate they’ve been broken most of their life. Germans still haven’t figured out hiw to make plastic or rubber, so you’ll still have to worry about dissolving fuel pumps and gasket despite the low miles.

I don’t know that they don’t know how to make it, seems to me that they use too damn much of it though in critical parts. At least BMW sure does.

Both fuel pumps dissolved on my 2013 BMW two years ago. The first coolant reservoir ate shit in 2015 and the second in 2017. My radiator end tank failed in 2017, and the replacement was cracked from the get go. The oil cooler gasket and oil filter gasket went a few years ago. Now my fuel filler hose is cracked.

This all on a car that’s only six years old.

I’m praying my timing chain guides hold up.

Ok so they don’t know how to make it AND they use too much of it.

That’s fucking ridiculous.

Yep.

Thankfully my car is  a CPO, so most of those repairs were covered.

Mine is now 19 years old, so I think it predates the worst of it, but the E46 is still known for some of those issues - especially the cooling system. I’ve been fairly lucky with it though.

Most likely. My E30 was much more stout than the modern bimmers I’ve owned.

Its also got a structural damage report, so thats a huge hit to the value and a big question to buying it

I believe it. I’m probably lucky that I have an early E46, so the engine is the M52 more associated  with the E36. Probably more reliable but less power.

I think today’s BMWs are built for 36 month leases.

Not sure what the fuck everyone is on about here , I have/had two e90s and an f30. Just sold the six speed e90 330i after 49k glorious miles with only changing a starter- it has 152k on the clock.

My 2008 e90 335i is my daily and I’ve just hi t 140k miles on it. Got it at 70k. In 5 years it’s never left me stranded amd the only major component failure was the water pump at 95k. Most reliable car I’ve ever had.

My wife’s f30 335i has had not one single thing go wrong with it. Got it at 54k, now has 93k. It’s shaping up to be better than the e90.

Th e bottom line is if you don't so regular maintenance, the car will shit out. Do regular maintenance and everything will be fine.

Nothing like buying a low miles car for good money and still having to budget an engine rebuild...

I skimmed the carfax and, obviously, missed that. Was wondering why someone would dump something like that anywhere but BAT, but that would explain it.

The CIC iDrive really isn’t bad at all, and with that it’s all button to change anything. I’ve used it for 5 years in my E90, really gotten used to it. That said, I didn’t really miss it in my 128i and it wasn’t something I sought out in the 3.

S parkling graphite metallic  was a 2008 only color, superseded by the space grey metallic mine is painted in. I test drove one of them in December 2013, and it was cheap, but the guy who got there 5 minutes before me scooped it up before I could talk numbers.

I daily an E92 328i and my weekend car is an E90 M3, both have been relatively good. I got the M3 in 2014 with just under 16k on it and the 328i in 2017 with 40k on it. The M3 is just under 48k now and the only problems have been both throttle position actuators. The 328i has 81k on it now, the leaky gaskets have been fixed as well. It ate a couple coils on me, so it’s got a new coils and plugs in it.

Although, that accident happened in 2013 and he didn’t immediately  offload it, which is a good sign. Back in 2013, you could still get low mileage single owner cars pretty easily, which would have made for a good replacement.

Nice, manual and no iDrive is the perfect configuration imo.

Does the E90 M3 command a higher price than the E92? If not it seems a little on the high side to me. I didn’t pay much more than that for my ‘13 E92 with 28k miles. Of course , the  price may not be firm though.

They do seem to command a bit of a premium, I feel like even when I got mine similar E90s were 2k or so more than a comparable E92; this was back in 2014.

They fixed the tail lights during the LCI, which is why when I got mine I specifically wanted an LCI, 2009-2011. As far as the idrive, 2013 was the last year, at least for the NA market with no idrive; you could get both the E92/3 and the 1 series without idrive. It’s possible that you could get an SUV like an X1 after that with no idrive, but we don’t really care about those here. I had a 2012 128i, and that lacked idrive.

I’m up for a raise in a few weeks. If I get it, and if this M3 is still for sale, I will trade my FoST for the M3 to use during non-snow months, and use my Fiero as a snow car.

Yes, I do have my life priorities straight, thankyouverymuch.

I’d just get a pretty comprehensive PPI because it was in an accident, as long as it was repaired correctly, this could be a steal.

I love Sparkling Graphite.  I almost bought a new ‘08 M3 sedan in that color.  It’s still the only color I’d have an E90 M3 in.
